Nice job with the extra cultural information such as explaining how gong gong is used to make bus or how any vehicle is chi. Is there a series of lessons that explains the characters? Such as lai is "fruit from the heavenly tree"--I'd love to have lessons that explain basic characters then builds them up such as gong "public" then how it turns to bus.

From my perspective, I would like to see the answers to the questions follow "immediately" behind the question, not a few pages away. It is time consuming to shuffle back and forth between pages.

Hi there, first I thanks for help this site for learning my Chinese . I would think that it would be obvious that someone who cannot speak Mandarin would not be able to read the characters either... Otherwise, I'm loving the site. Keep it up! Keep it free!

Hello. I am studying Chinese since September and I thank StudyPond for such a site, free and top quality. I have been surprised to notice that this lesson has changed. The "problem" is, may be, that early lessons (for instance lesson 1) refer to far more sofisticated lessons or grammar lessons (i.e: shen me). I personnaly started with easy stuff, forgetting grammar lessons and characters. After 2 months, I started with easy grammar lessons and characters. I purchased a cheap tool to compile and write and listen and remember characters (up to a point !!!). That way, I am able, for instance, to copy a character in the pdf documents, paste it in my tool (or any other dictionnary on the Net, there are so many) and have it explained. A little bit time consuming but, Chinese characters are what makes Chinese fascinating. cgorae is right, you can do it. Something else, I think we have to be patient. A great deal I fear !!!
