The home page
- Lessons
We publish a few most recently made lessons on the home page. You can listen to the audio, browse the text,
rate, discuss and make comments. The color spectrum indicates level. Clicking on the "text window" will
bring you to the "lesson detail page". There you will find new words in the lesson, other related
study materials such as grammar lessons, and the answer to "catch my drift" if applicable. You can
also download MP3, PDF script and an exercise called "Pronunciation station" (if available) on
the "lesson detail page", but they are available to members only.
- New practice partner
We host a free language exchange program called "practice partners". Anyone who are interested in
practicing a new language and helping others practice theirs can
register a "practice partner"
account with us. The latest registered member is shown on the home page. You can look up practice
partners without registering, but only those registered can be searched on.
- New tutor
Language teachers are welcome to register on our website.
Registration makes you available to any visitors of our website and it is completely free.
The latest registered tutor is shown on the home page.
Introduction to member only features
- Lesson archives
You can find all lessons and supporting materials on "Library" page. They are organized by
category and you can list them in the order of level, category, or date published. Furthermore,
you can look up materials by keywords, on both English and Chinese words.
- My study desk
"My study desk" helps you organize your learning process. When you find a courseware interesting,
you can bring it to your "study desk" by clicking "Add to my study desk" button on the
"lesson detail page". Materials we categorize as "lesson", such as "Build it!", will appear
in "My lesson" section, and the rest, such as "Idiom", will appear in "My supporting materials"
section. There are two pre-defined groups in each secion, "in progress" and "finished". You
can put a study material in one of the two groups accordingly.
You can also keep track of your practice partners and tutors here.
- My exercise
The most helpful section in "My study desk" we consider is "My exercise". As soon as you put a
study material in "My study desk", our website can generate customized exercises for you. You
can do the exercises again and again until you are perfect.
- Tools
Tools are on "Library" page. You can find out what measure words can be used for a noun or
vice versa by looking up in "Measure word dictionary". There are a pinyin chart with audios and
a common Chinese radical table. We've also integrated an online dictionary provided by
www.dict.cn for you.
